Enter start and end points for your journey. In the North East and Cumbria you can enter a postcode, a town, village or suburb, a place of interest (eg. hospital, school, tourist attraction) a bus stop or metro station. Elsewhere in England, Scotland and Wales you can enter rail stations and coach stops.

Note that you may be offered a number of choices relating to your journey once you click 'submit' in order that your requirements can be refined.

Select the time and date you wish to travel, and indicate whether you want to arrive or depart at this time. If you enter a date in the future, you are advised to check your journey nearer to the date of travel, to ensure services remain the same.

All types of transport are included by default. If you wish to restrict the types of transport, click the appropriate box to remove the tick. Note that 'Flight' covers UK internal flights.
